Trusted relationships and new technology, working together
Long before AI reached the top of board agendas, I spent ten years on the science of one of the oldest trusted partnerships there is, between a person and their guide dog.
As Chief Scientific Officer I led the research behind partnerships people trust with their safety every day, and I chaired the ethics and governance that kept that work safe.

I later ran the operation itself, as a national director accountable for 25 sites, 700 staff and more than 3,000 volunteers. Those years taught me that the best charity operations are built on human relationships, and any change that ignores them will not hold.​
Insights2Outputs is the critical friend I often needed in my own leadership journey, helping charities and other organisations where trust and safeguarding matter adopt AI without breaking the relationships their services run on.
In 2026 I was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to take that question around the world, learning from organisations in the USA, Australia and Japan about how people combine trusted partnerships with emerging technology. ​You can follow the research on my Fellowship page.​
Recognition
I hold a science degree from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of Bristol, and I am a member of the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI. I bring that research rigour to practical operating decisions.

Talking science and charity leadership on the national stage
As a senior leader and spokesperson in the charity sector, I appeared on BBC Breakfast and ITV, and my work featured in The Guardian and WIRED.
